About FORM sewing + design

FORM sewing + design is a working studio in downtown Tucson.

We offer a variety of classes to people of all sewing levels.

From sewing basics to patternmaking, FORM is a place to create, learn and connect with your local fashion community.

FORM sewing + design studio is the brainchild of Liza Byrne. When her favorite sewing shop relocated to Seattle, she was disheartened to lose the opportunity to learn, create and sew with others. Faced with this disappointment, Liza asked her friend and instructor Jane Bosman if she was interested in starting a studio here in Tucson. Long story short...FORM sewing + design studio was born!

FORM is a dedicated space for all things related to creating clothing. The studio is 760 sq ft of industrial space with soaring ceilings and FABULOUS natural light. With 4 lock stitch machines (3 domestic, 1 industrial), 2 overlock machines, 2 pressing stations and 2 industrial cutting tables (4’x8’ and 5’x8’) our space is every sewist’s and designer’s dream. All tools, such as scissors, thread, pins, marking tools etc., are provided for participants during classes and open studio time. Additionally, we are in the process of preparing our space next door into a FABRIC SHOP; something Tucson desperately needs!

Owner and Designer, Liza Byrne is a former dermatology PA-C and started sewing and designing in 2019. She is currently working on her own clothing line at FORM sewing + design which she hopes will be in production soon. Certain pieces will be for sale on this website shortly.  Stay tuned!

Our instructor, Melissa Dudley is a practicing designer and honors graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology. For over a decade she has honed her craft, creating custom garments for clients in Tucson. With a focus on historical fashion and couture practices, she is excited to share her skills with the community and be part of the FORM studio team!
